The classic resort round
About the Jones
Rees Jones designed the Jones Course in 1990, and it carries his signature: generous landing areas, fairways that roll between long grass mounds, and big greens guarded by deep, sculpted bunkers. You get room to swing off the tee, then a real question on the approach.
It is the longest of the three Sea Trail courses, a little over 6,700 yards from the blue tees, with back to back par fives to close the front nine and a long par five to finish. Water comes into play on many holes, most memorably around the turn and on the closing stretch.
For all its length the Jones is the course the resort recommends to every level of player. Balanced green complexes, clear lines from the tee and a layout that flows naturally from hole to hole make it the course most groups put at the heart of a stay and play trip, and it shares the main clubhouse with the Byrd, a short walk from the Champions and Club Villas.
Where it fits Save it for the middle day, when the group is warmed up and ready for the longest of the three and the most rewarding to play well.
